... recommend how we have done it over the years

I have just done myself a quote using doyouSpain from August 15th for 14 days collect & return Alicante airport, the cheapest quote I can find is for the very smallest car and this is £32 per day! I must be doing something wrong on the system or could you advise, this is much higher than the £3 per day stated.

Since the pandemic car hire prices have gone mad. Ten times is about the same as I have encountered so until they change their policy I'm out of car hire.

Its difficult to follow the rationale. It may be that they had to slash their fleets to get through the covid period so with less cars to offer and less competition they could charge more. We were out for six weeks recently so imagine how much that would be.

So we used innisfreecostablancaholidays.com shuttle. It costs €40-50 shared between the passengers and is airport to door. On arrival there were two of us and another passenger sharing so we paid €15 each. Highly reliable.

We happen to have bikes over there and are keen cyclists so getting around locally was no problem and if needed the local buses go everywhere.
