Yes, I had  similar e-mails about the 4 flights I had already had confirmed refunds for, plus another couple of e-mails explaining the delay and now this! The e-mail said if we wanted a refund we had to "click here" which just took me to the main Ryanair page and the web chat facility is overwhelmed. The vouchers are valid for 12 months but as we were only going to the UK for the birth of our grandson we have no other plans to fly anywhere now. If I went to "my booking" it said I had no current travel plans.

I understand, I really do and I am prepared to wait, even if  like with ABTA I have to wait until the end of the expiry of the voucher to claim a cash refund because it will all sort itself out eventually one way or another and getting myself worked up about it is not going to solve anything or change anything.

Difficult times.

Update as I had the Ryanir chatbot open on another screen as I was up early this morning and thought I would give it a whirl......

Anybody who is waiting for a refund will get a voucher as they have said security during shutdown is compromised and as they don't know when this will change they cannot even give an indication of when a refund may be possible. If I don't use my vouchers (and as they don't expire until April 2021 I'm not expecting it to be even considered before this date) I will be automatically refunded at some point afterwards.

The agent I spoke to was working from home.

I paid for these flights by credit card but I do not believe I can claim back this way as I guess that whatever Ryanair is doing is authorised at a higher level which would mean they are not breaking the contract I have with them. I may be wrong but as I expect the card companies to be equally inundated, I'll just go with the flow.

I am afraid your talking to someone who detests this  company because of the way it treats customers and staff it’s because my wife books the flights I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole personally.Jet2 more expensive but more professional clean far superior. But back to refund we have been informed once you accept the voucher that is the end of Ryanair’s legal obligation to customers  ABTA your credit card company will not be interested, this is why Ryanair are pushing the vouchers.Iam hoping to find out today how long do we have to wait legally to receive my money my wife bless her has 5 flights booked between April and October.

Hi Ray, I worked for British Airways when it really was the nation's favourite airline but I  wouldn't have been able to afford to fly with them without staff travel perks. I have since been able to visit many more places than I would otherwise have done without the likes of Ryanair, Easyjet et al.
In my last job in the UK I worked in a call centre and my every moment was tracked, we were often told there were too many calls waiting to allow us to get a drink or use the loo and many companies are using more and more intrusive ways of monitoring their staff and perks taken away, pensions decimated etc.
I will be interested to hear the outcome but as I have said before, if I come out of it alive I will be grateful and anything else is a bonus. I did however keep a screenshot of the conversation, just in case!

I understand but then there would be another layer of work to determine who is more in need so the only feasible way is to work in date order of flights. Not all young families are poor and not all older people are rich.

Have to say Cheryl you are probably correct I just get annoyed when a lot of the British Seniors are Thatcher brain washed with the I am alright attitude and not bothered about the rest.like when the Cabin Crew ask to remain seated till the plane stops have a look next who gets up while the plane is moving.cant wait to see one flying through the air sorry but.
