EES postponed - again

Hardly surprising when you look at what EES is trying to achive. 

To scan every 3rd country passport from any Schengen entry/exit point in any of the 26 countries, send data to a central point, perform interrogation/calculation on dates from previous visits and sanctions, send all results back to originating query point. All in real time, without increasing the current passport delays. 

One hell of a task, especially when you look at the UK's NHS data fiasco which was delayed for years and went way over budget and there was only one country involved there, speaking more or less the same language.

The whole premise seems to ‘catch’ the wrong people, those with funds within Europe travelling on holiday or with a permanent place of residence in Europe and the wherewithal to buy legitimate return ticket transport to and from a destination seem to be the wrong targets for this type of security and tracking.

Those folk with one way tickets and / or no permanent resided within the European continent should be the ones investigated further imo.

it’s all BS

It's all about securing the EU/EEA borders much like the UK who voted to leave the EU. A major factor of that decision is to take back control of the UK borders. The UK has already introduced a 'limited' electronic visa wavier for 6 Middle Eastern countries. The USA has been operating such a system for years with no complaints that I know of.

It's inevitable that such a major scheme will be subject to delays taking into consideration it will cover 27 EU/EEA countries with a population of 447 million people.

Being part of the European continent and being a member of the European Union are two different things that are unfortunately conflated.
