Doesn't make sense. they remove health test on older drivers to increase the amount of tests?????
I would want to see the text from the DGT, in Spanish, or well translated.
Cheers, J
They have the same in Denmark, renew the license when you are 70 and that's it until you are 85, next time until you are 100. No medical test required. Makes you wonder.

Lots of contradictory information coming out. I can find nothing official from the DGT but other press quoting older regs also appear wrong. According to press and reports earlier, licences for over 65 would be renewed every 5 years but over 70 would be every 2 years. However, both my wife and I have just renewed ours and I was given 5 years and I am 75. My wife was only given 3 years as she had cataract ops done 18 months ago and the doctor said 3 years was maximum after that type of operation but he reckons, if all stays as it is, he can give her 5 years next time.
These new rules have been agreed by the EU and under 65 licence will now be valid 15 years but it's a bit of grey area for older drivers. Length of validity will be increased but checks, according to some, will be less. Also official checks for under 65 will only be by self assessment (like UK) but all seems a bit up in the air at the moment.
I will wait until the DGT updates the rules and comes out with what is actually required. News reports and EU reports contradict each other.

I assume that before this becomes law then the N332 website and Facebook page will show what is required. The website and their Facebook page are for English speaking people and are run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil.
Looking for anything official about the changes but can't find anything. Looks like the reason is that these have been agreed with the EU to make it compatible in EU countries and includes self assessment for medicals, probation periods for younger drivers and extending the time when the licence is valid for.
However, these have been an agreement and won't be formalised until after the EU elections on 6 to 9 June this year. I assume it will be all be made clear after that.
