Information on life in Catral

BEWARE OF FLOODING... CATRAL HAS HIGH WATER-TABLE AND FLOODS FREQUENTLY... HAVE FRIENDS THERE SO CHECK IT OUT FIRST

I’ve lived in the Camino since 2010 and the only flooding we all suffered in the Costa Blanca area was September  2019 when the flood gates were opened and everyone suffered not just Catral. 
it’s best to speak to local residents of Catral when visiting local cafe, Restaurants etc.

Make sure that the property is fully legal and has a valid habitation certificate.

Do employ your own independent solicitor before parting with any money. Get your solicitor to review and probably rewrite any estate agent contract before signing.

Thank you for your reply. We have our own Solicitor. And I know about the Habitation Certificate but it’s surprising how many houses are being sold at the minute without one, I wonder why that is?

Probably because there are such a large number of illegal builds around that area.

Ah, the elephant in the room. 

I didn't want to spook the O/P but as long as the solicitor is really on the ball and the paperwork is impeccable, there shouldn't be a problem.

Be really careful if you are going to buy in Catral and the surrounding area. 

There were many houses built 20 or so years ago in Catral where the developers did not have the correct agreements in place with the Regional Authorities. Several owners were forced out of their homes due to this lack of "legal agreements" and their houses were forcibly demolished; the owners lost everything. Some owners never actually moved in and their houses were demolished even though they had been paid for.

So, my best advice, is to have a solicitor who is familiar with Catral and the problems the arose there between 2002 and 2010
