I believe in giving realistic answers to issued raised on this forum. It is fact that unemployment in Spain is the highest in the EU apart from Greece who seem to have given up even providing figures and youth unemployment is higher still. Seeking employment without being able to speak the national language is just going to cut down your chances even more.
Dreams are dreams but we have to live in the real world and I would personally prefer to be pre-warned so I could make considered choices as dreams don't pay the rent. It is often recommended to have enough money to support yourselves for a full year and to have a plan B should things not work out.
A lot of people on this forum provide valuable information for all to benefit from, for free. Some threads have a bit of banter which is also not appreciated by some and other posters, including myself, have had abusive replies and private messages but still we try to help out wherever we can. The positives are all too obvious and we wouldn't be helping anyone if we didn't flag up the downsides

This is an impossible situation to put yourselves and your 15 year old son in ....
I have seen single well suited for various positions especially in the financial market ... she has been here for a year she managed to get one job in a kitchen where the conditions were terrible so now she is returning to Ireland and she does hope to come back some day .... And the paperwork is absolutely horrendous.... For your sons sake stay put until he finishes his education and all of you go to Spanish classes and learn the language also find yourself a good lawyer who specialises in moving to another country he will be worth his weight in gold and will do all of the paper work sale of house for you ...
Be prepared which will take a few years but then you have the rest of your life in the sun ☀️ There are many loopholes and people who want your cash
Hope this helps Lesley

Thank you Lesley, we will be coming once my son finishes his education, although he will be 15. I speak Spainish but not fluent as yet although I did as a child. I grew up in Costa Brava and have a Spainish father and other family members. I have been offered work already and won’t be moving until everything in place. I own property in Valencia and have had a lawyer for a number of years.
I don’t want to move to a English x pat area as the reason we are moving to Spain is to become Spainish and rediscover my roots. I know it’s not a simple move and we are taking our time to plan. Which I have been doing for a few years, we have tried different areas and have friends up and down the coast.
My post is more about asking people in Catral if they like living their etc.
Thank you for your advice

Hi not yet over this weekend to view houses. My son is 15 and finishes school here in May. Have been trying to look at what he could do if we move over in June but colleges seem really expensive
