Hi All,

I am new to here and was wondering if anyone has any advice on moving to Catral, I’m in my 30’s and my partner in his 40’s but he’s worried he wouldn’t get work, he is a builder with a brilliant reputation back in the uk

Any advice would help please 😊

thank you

You need to check the visa requirements for moving to Spain the gov.uk website has info on the various types of visa, income needed and health insurance.

As to jobs there has always been high unemployment in Spain and now after COVID even more so. After Brexit as a UK citizen/passport holder you would only be offered a job after it was offered to a Spanish or EU citizen.

The other route is to register as self employed (autonomo) which brings with it more hoops to jump through.

Having to work in Spain is not for the faint hearted, often long hours for poor pay so not the more laid back lifestyle people are wanting. Please consider all your options before making your decision.

Sorry if this comes across as negative but it is unfortunately the way it is.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you want to move to Spain and work then you will need a confirmed job lined up in advance when the employer will apply for a visa on your behalf.

The days of turning up and hoping to scratch a living are long over.
