It’s raining today and I have just walked home in the road as the tiled pavements are very slippery

I admit that I often walk in the road when it's safe to do so. With arthritic joints I find it very difficult to cope with all the cross slopes to drop pavements. I'm OK going up or down, but not across.

And if you're a moro, then you have to walk on the road - preferably pushing a pram on the road first....

...

Jim, I run on the run on the roads for the same reason. The pavements can be very slippery too, even when dry!

In our area there are no pavements on the road, so to get to the bars and shops we have to walk on the road, we take care and keep to the edge but we have no op

To this conversation I could add, why do they walk out onto a crossing without bothering to look left or right?  I have lost count how many times I have nearly had one on my bonnet.

I know they have priority on the crossing but they fail to understand that cars can't stop dead.

I wonder how long they would last in London.

Hold the front page, whatever next saw a pedestrian walking on the pavement, surprised I nearly bought my own beer.

The pavements can be very slippery especially those red ones. Another reason is because some lazy dog owners don't pick up the POO after their dogs and the pavement are like minefields with dog s--t !

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Even more of a hairy experience if people have had a few sherbets inside of The Plaza.

It’s simple there’s less dog mess on the road. My blind friend said he would always walk on the road if it wasn’t for his sight, because walking on the pavement guarantees bringing home fresh or stale turds on the bottom of his shoes. Yes I know responsible dog owners would never not clean up after their dogs, but my eyes tell me there aren’t many responsible dog owners around.
