This was an extreme and very rare "Gota Fria" and many places suffered.

This was a discussion on here back in 2020 so that may answer some of your questions.

It a beautiful  little  village  but some command  of Spanish  will  help you settle  in but I would  factor in the Price  of  purchasing  a Car  or  renting for duration  of your vacation

Best of luck 👍

It was a rare event mostly caused by  the river Segura bank collapsed near Algorfa, also heavy persistant rain. It took a year to repair and strengthen the bank ,they also cleared the rubbish in the river .

We have owned properties in the area for 26 years , this was the first we have seen

Hi Cath n Steve

I have lived in Daya Nueva for nearly 6 years and can honestly say I have never regretted a moment of that time. Only a small part of Daya Nueva was effected by the gotta fria. I believe the area had about 4 years worth of rain in 24 hours and was the worst for over 100 years.

I have no concerns about flooding and have no intentions of moving out of the village.

I wish you good luck in your search. If you have any other questions about the area please feel free to PM me and I will try my best to help you.

Saludos Cordiales
