I have used some paint in Spain for balustrades and it was great stuff.  However thinking of painting internal doors and architrave in the summer.  Found the paint shop very good but was wondering should I bring the paint with me.  Its just even here in the UK some undercoats and gloss is poor.  I like solvent based traditional undercoat and topcoat.  Whats that like in Spain?   Any thoughts appreciated.

I'm with you, Mike, and prefer solvent based paints. If you've got transport now, go to Brochacolor on the road from Formentera to Rojales - they've got good stocks, and the girl there is very helpful and speaks good English. There are also two paint shops in Almoradi, and I can point you at the better of these (Rocamora) if you want.

I've not needed to buy any ordinary paint for wood, as all ours is varnished, so can't advise you on make. However, the varnishes, emulsions and metal paints I've used have been just as good as good UK products. For example, we've got an external metal gate that was painted with Titan enamel fourteen years ago, and so far I've not even needed to touch it up.

Tip top Jim, thanks...  We wanted to change from the wood colour/varnish to white.  Still undecided....  May buy it here and bring it over..... only because I want it right first time, oil based undercoat and top....

Many thanks for your advice though... Always appreciated.....

Depends how you're going to travel, Mike. If you're flying, I though you weren't allowed to carry flammable liquids, even in the hold, but I may be wrong.

If you could get down to Quesada, there's a paint shop called Quesada Colors who sell Dulux, but I don't know if they do the Dulux trade paints. I've seen two phone numbers quoted for them: 622 71 98 35 and 603 378 732.
