Hi all, my Bankinter account was scammed of nearly 3000 euros ,i went to the bank they sent me to the national police in Elche ,a Complient was obtained .I took it to my branch in villa martin and was told i would receive an answer within the month.

I did, it said as all the 21 false transactions had taking place on an I Phone ,which as i have never had one is a joke.

I went to a lawyer who wrote a further letter to the bank, their reply was basically hard luck.

So as they never once advised me of any suspect activity on my account ,nor pay me back,i can only suggest you are all very wary of this bank, as they dont care about looking after their customers.

Ps The lawyer has since said my only recourse is to take them to court which i was told would cost me almost the same as was scammed.

Hi  i suggest contacting Tony Hetherington who writes in the DAily Mail and achieves much success with helping people with similar problems.    Best of luck.    Ray

I'm with Bankinter but with every transaction I receive a text message. I have the duel debit credit card and also the bankinter App on my phone. For transferring funds I have to confirm on my phone and also use the code requested from the card given to me. Not sure how this has happened unless someone has cloned your phone.

I used the same bank. Had a problem with unauthorized transfer, no card or phone, just money transferred.  Bank was unhelpful and claimed my problem. As OP says, they gamble that one won't go to court. Of course I moved my money. The way Spanish banks behave, high costs for customers, next to zero service and little protection for your money unless the bank goes down, it's probably not a good idea to keep money of significance in Spanish banks.

Hi, your not the first and you certainly won't be the last.  I know of at least 3 people this happened too and the same happened to me earlier this year.  I lost €2000.  Exactly same circs as you.

I was told (I) had registered my phone with an Apple IPhone payment app - never had one, always had a Samsung - and that I had authorised all payments through the text messages - never received any.

Made numerous complaints and even took out a Denouncia at the local Police.  Got absolutely nowhere.

Thought about taking this to the press but I'm led to believe that Spain has a law that if you defame anyone,  person or Company, even if the circs are true, you are still liable and can be sued.

They basically have you by the short znd curlys.  I was with a large well known Bank.

Such was my lost my wife and I are unable to attend my sons wedding next year.  I have to go alone.

Why would an English newspaper and journalist help someone who had been scammed in another country?

Why would you think reference was being made to the English press or English Lawyers!!!!!

We do have press and Lawyers in Spain, all of which speak English.
