Hi we are retiring back to the UK (why?) and of  course we will need warmer climates for the winter. Our intention is to 3 month winter let in the Costa Blanca  area's every year. Probably move to a different Town/area each year. Our problem is what is the best way to transport our pooch (5lbs) and of course return back to the UK. I do not want to drive down, prefer to hire a car as needed when we get settled. We are happy to fly but the advise we are finding is a little vague re booking arrangements in advance. Happy to go via the tunnel on the eurostar but it seems you cannot take dogs in the train carriage. Can anyone give useful info. Kind Regards Geoff

Have a look at Iberia airlines website as they allow small dogs in the cabin on certain routes and I think you would need to fly into Madrid and either pick up a hire car there or get a train to Alicante and hire from there.
Pet friendly cabins on ferry routes to northern Spain get booked up very quickly but this is another option.
Other than that it is the Eurotunnel and then drive down or use a pet transporter for your dog and travel separately.

Also I'm not sure if UK rules allow dogs to go back in the cabin....something to check out.

Thankyou Cheryl, I believe you are right, I think you have to use a transport pet carrier company for the return leg. Any way looking forward to it. Thankyou.
