Any advice.

Property owner with NIE, but non resident. Transferred Euros from an online bank to my Caixia account. As a test I transferred 100euros. Caixia have now charged me 15 euros for me doing so. It went from one IBAN to another.  This is ridiculous. I have direct debits going out etc. Etc but obviously need to top up the account.c

Caixia charge for everything 👁️

Thoughts please 🥺 I know I should look to move my bank in totality but before I do any other suggestions 🤔

Caixa grateful for your business. I closed my account and save approximately 300 Euros yearly. You should be using a Wise account, very very low charges. There are multiple previous references to Wise, you can use the search box for "Wise", or look under Banking

Sabadell charged me €18 every time I transferred funds to them from NatWest.  Completely wrongly as UK is still a member of SEPA. Single European Payments Area but Sabadell needs NatWest to challenge them not me ! I changed and I send my money with Currencies Direct. I get a better rate than NatWest and don't get charged. Yes Wise is good but I can easily speak to Currencies Direct if i need anything. They  have an office in Albir and are very helpful.

I’ve had a wise account for many years now and bank with La Caixa. As long as you open an euro account with wise and transfer directly via your euro account to La Caixa there are no charges applied for the transaction.

I don't think the charges are to do with SEPA or Brexit etc. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong but all high street banks charge for receiving currency in non domestic funds.

For example if you send €200 to Natwest they will charge a fee. If you send £200 to a Spanish bank they will charge. It's not just Spanish banks. This is why most people use a Currency Transfer company like Wise.

I sent money regularly for years from NatWest to Sabadell with no charge. They only started charging €18 after Brexit. There were a lot of complaints about it at the time. They don't charge Currencies Direct because payments are processed through Germany. Frankfurt in fact. Being a member of SEPA as the UK banks are means that there should be no charge for European payments.

The charge was for transferring a 100 Euros from a Wise a/c in to Caixa.

I had hope there would be no charge. As yours and others advice was similar.

I just need to get over it and shut down Caixa and utilise WISE - I am now on that journey folks :-)

People always warned me about this, i suppose i never felt it was that poor a service tbh.

As a permanent resident pensioner I get no charges at all with Caixa provided I pay in more than 300 euro pension a month, use the credit card 3 times in a quarter and have at least 2 standing orders a year. I have my Army pension paid in monthly and never been charged for it.

I regularly transfer money from my UK bank and vice versa and have never paid a penny in charges. The only time was 20 euro a year for a second debit card which we no longer have.

Every year I get a statement which lists all the charges (which are quite hefty) and then I get a discount for using account which matches the charges and I get a balance of 0,00 each time.
