I am a non-resident property owner in El Campello. I am considering buying a car. After reading from knowledgeable sources that non-residents should not register on the padron we removed ourselves from the register. I have now been told that Padron is required in order to buy a car in the Alicante region. Is this true? Most sources state that you need NIE and Escritura or a rental lease. I can provide Esritura, SUMA records and NIE plus utility bills if needed. Any help much appreciated.

Thank you Cheryl. Interestingly it is a major Spanish dealership that is telling me this. Other dealers I have spoken to confirms the information provided in the article you have linked.

Hi Tony. I have a holiday home in Alicante and bought a car to keep over there. All I required was NIE and utility bill.

Thank you so much. Ironically I've phoned an English car dealer in Alicante who also says that padrón is absolutely not required. It is OcasionPlus who are telling me that it's essential. I'll go to see them tomorrow.

Regards

Tony
