We park there all the time, you don`t need to pay as its free. The guys are just trying their luck. My cars never been damaged when left there. If its full, we always go to the underground car park. There are always spaces available, and its €3 for 24 hours.

I tend to park on the main road, a few hundred feet or so out of the centre, on the road that you turn off from into that car park. There are few of what appears to be defunct developments with wire fencing to the road front, I normally park around there, never had an issue. Only takes a few mins walking, if you are able bodied etc.
