Hi I’m just in the process of buying an apartment

It’s finished but as the builders left it

Does anybody know if English light fittings will work in Spain pls

Kind regards

Andy

Hiya Andy,

In a small minority of cases with older  light fitting containing certain specifications of Electronic circuitry there could be a problem ,but in the vast majority of cases if you have UK manufactured light fittings they will function perfectly ok throughout Europe, in fact lots of light fittings sold in The UK nowadays are actually manufactured in Spain and other EU countries .

Although Europe and The UK have slightly differing Voltages within their Networks Recent European Stadardization of declared Power Supply Voltages at an average 230Volt has meant most Electrical Equipment manufactured in Europe is suitable for use anywhere within Europe.

Hope that helps.

As stated in the first detailed reply to this post, by personal experience, and for the reasons given, I can state, the vast majority of and  " Most " but not " All "  U.K manufactured light fitting will be suitable for installation in Spain.

Ray D . The O.P merely asked if the light fittings would ' work," which I think my reply adequately and accurately answered .

My commiserations to you for getting it wrong with your table light lamps.

Reading the daily updates I notice you have a habit of trashing other people's replies to posts requesting advice.

Why not concentrate on giving your own opinion and leave it at that? Think you need to chill out a little.

Ray,

I believe you can get adaptors to convert bayonet to screw and vis versa, ebay from China, but would save people throwing out light fittings or as in your case lamps which may have had loads of life left in them.

Regards

Pauline.

Must admit I still have a couple of cherished UK lamps, I get visitors to bring me a bayonet bulb occasionally! When they're gone they're gone though and I'll buy Spanish to replace them.
