Hi Everyone! I've been living in central Alicante since Jan22  &  I'm recently retired. Although l go to spanish classes every morning I'm actually finding it quite difficult to fill my days & meet new people. I've been to El Campello & like the look of it. If l moved there , what would l be able to do? ....groups, hobbies etc. Thanks Laura

El Campello is nice and has a good transport system with trams and buses. Not sure what it's like for expats population but in summer there is a lot of British tourist and a couple of British pubs on the beach front. It depends on what your really after, you may prefer being further north or south where there is a well known amount of expats.

Hello Laura

Not sure what groups you are looking for?  Why dont you google whatever hobbies you are interested in - add El Campello to your seacrh & see what is suggested. on the internet.   Somethings might exist but not be  used by people on this forum who might just have holiday homes there, so  googling could widen your knowledge of  what is available  in the area

Cheers

Hi Laura,

I have only been there once but the Garden Room in El Campello might be worth checking out. It is a cafe and I believe you can do Spanish lessons . It is  a bit of a hub for ex pats and various activities are organised.

El Campello is the nearest town to our holiday home .it has excellent public transport and a good range of bars restaurants and cafés . I would say mainly Spanish but good sprinkling of ex pats and other nationals.

Yes, the garden room cafe is definitely a place to visit. It’s run by 2 English women and runs various social group activities from there too, such as arts & crafts, a knit & natter group & walking group.

We have an apartment in el Campello and when we visit always head to the garden room just to find out what’s going on. 😊

There is a really good Facebook site called friends of El Campello. It's full of ex-pats who will give you all the info you need. El Campello is still very Spanish and has no British pubs on the front.

However, it does have bars, and plenty of restaurants but no fish and chips. It's a lovely place, and we visit it 2-3 times a week.

If you like tennis, paddle, lawn bowls, or golf you will find all these at Bonalba, which is 10 minutes away.

The Garden room is a great place to meet people, and the lady involved also runs fitness classes.

Hope this helps.

Have you considered Albir ? Much more to do there and lots of groups catering for single people. Quite a lot of English live there.Campello can be quiet in winter.
