Hi, I am looking to relocate (at least at weekends) to El Campello... I’m 44 and like to get out and about but certainly not looking for Benidorm... from what I can gather the town seems to still be Spanish but there is an expat thing to a certain extent... any advice for a potential mover... ? thanks

Hi Grahame... yep looking to be there at weekends, renting for now... not sure what to add... just generally looking for a bit more info on the place... I don’t know if it is mainly retiree ex pats who form the majority of the expat community or is it ifamily driven... I will be visiting soon to see but a bit of background would be great

Cheers

Mark

Hi Coxy

El Campello is a lovely Spanish seaside town. In August its very busy as the Spanish holiday there. I live in Busot about 7 km away and visit Campello on a regular basis. The majority of people I see are retirees, lots of different nationality's mostly late 50s upwards. The majority of younger people are Spanish and young English families on holiday. Its quite steady in the winter but comes alive from March on wards. There is an area called Alkibir which is located at the far end of Campello, and I believe there are a few ex pats there.

The public transport is fantastic, with Trams running to Alicante and Denia via Benidorm.

My wife and I are in our late 50s, and do not come upon lots of people our age, as they gerenally tend to be older.

I hope this helps a little

Regards

John Archer

As part of your research can I suggest that you have a look at Jim's Guides on this site.   The Citizens Advice Bureau Spain can also be helpful.   Just bear in mind that after the 31st January 2020 many things may change.   Also be aware that many provinces and towns 'tweek' the national rules and regulations for their own procedures.

Another helpful site for anything to do with driving in Spain is the N332 website.   This is run in conjunction with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

I've been visiting El Campello for years, it's a lovely place, hope to move there in a few years. For me it has just the right mix of people, lots of Spanish plus a smaller number of other nationalities. I've found the people of El Campello (native and blow-ins) all very friendly.

I also love the location: Easy access to Alicante for some "culture" and Benidorm for some madness.

I've been there in most seasons and there is always something going on, although of course it gets busier in Summer.
