Hi, hoping to visit for a w/end in July! Haven't been for 12 yrs! Before I go about booking can anyone give me an idea of the layout, bars, busy areas, etc? I remember the beach front was quite long but after that can't think of anything else.

Cheers AL

Hi

If you're staying in Campello itself it does get quite busy (noisy) on the front during the summer. Move further away from the front inland and obviously it'll be a bit quieter.

Most bars and restaurants are located on the sea front and there are supermarkets, banks, and other shops on the road parallel to the beachfront.

Everything is easily accessible, the tram station at the top of the town has trams going up and down the coast.

Hope you have a great time here

Campello is a great little town, lots of bars and restaurants along the promenade, but some can be a bit pricy.  Bar Merfin opposite Lidls is great for tapas and also Rincon de las Tapas in St Joan Bosco up near the station.  We also went to Restaurant Mash up in the town for Sunday lunch, used to go there all the time when my parents lived there.  You can book it on Facebook.  Has not changed, very Spanish, I think we were the only English people in there.  La Cova overlooking the harbour does a set menu including wine and water.  Also like Els Foguers de Pablo on Avenida Almedrava.  If you want Chinese go to Asia Li next to the dry river bed.  Lizzaran on the front does tapas, each one comes with a stick and they just add them up at the end of the meal, constant flow of fresh hot tapas brought round.

There is a Lidl at one end of the town and  a Mercadona in the centre of town both on Calle Sant Bartomeu also a Super Sol next to the train station.

If you get a chance go to the castle in Alicante.  Get on the train to Marx/Castille, leave by the rear exit and walk down the side street it will take you round to the front, there is a lift down to the road and you will see the entrance to the castle.  There is an entrance fee of 2.90 each. When you have finished carry on walking along the promenade into the marina or up into the town.   Buy a train ticket at the main station, you can top it up with 10, 20 or 30 rides you can use one card for multiple users.  Just tap once for each passenger when you get on the train, much cheaper than buying single fares.  Also works the same for buses.

If you get time go up to Benidorm for the day, about 4.30 euros return  The line 1 goes from Campello and takes about 40 minutes.

Hope this helps, if there is anything you want to ask feel free.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did think about a visit but found the accommodation prices much to expensive, the dearest I've found along the coast and I've lived here for 10 yrs and have been going away for 4/5/6/ weekends a year, once every month or so, a shame!
