The auditorium isn’t on El Raso, its across the Lemon  Tree Road in the campo, in fast most people drive past and don’t realise it’s there as it’s surrounded by trees to reduce noise levels.  But occasionally noise carries on to El Raso.

September when the Campo  have their fiesta held over three consecutive weekends. these are usually the noisiest as they go onto 4 or 5 am

The El Raso fiesta - just one weekend.

Quite normal for anywhere in Spain.

Other fiesta type celebrations - Christmas, Patron Saint etc, but I wouldn’t  class the music as loud, as it barely drifts onto El Raso

It can be used by any individual, under licence, but to be honest, you probably hear the music more from  parties held at Manolo's. Or even the noise of the weekly market

So for very loud music  your answer is probably less than 5 nights a year.

But don’t forget due to wind directions you’ll hear fiesta music from Torrevieja, Guardamar, Rojales and all the other surrounding areas, again common for living anywhere in Spain

Thanks very much for your reply.

We are looking for a fairly quiet place to live but not 'dead'.

Where would you recommend for a couple in their 70's.

At the moment we are looking at El Raso and Pilar De La Horadada so if you have any information on either it would be appreciated.

Can only comment on living in El Raso.

It’s fairly flat, but with a very slight incline leading from the lake. Mix of older style properties and new apartments . The apartments tend to be mainly holiday homes for the Northern Europeans.

The older properties attract both residents and holiday home owners and a wide mix of all nationalities. So the bars are open all year round and host a pleasant mix of clubs, societies, quizzes and music. A farmacia, vets, hairdressers  and a small supermarket supplement the bars/ restaurants. The doctor is open two mornings a week a few minutes walk from El Raso. We have a bus which will take you into Guardamar , runs 6-8 times a day. Two bus stops on the urb, the first on roundabout 1, the second on roundabout 3, so should you purchase at the bottom of the urb it’s a 20 minute walk to get the bus. From Guardamar you can get a bus to most places, just be aware that the bus service in the area is not great, so getting from A to B could take you all day.

House prices tend to be more expensive on El Raso than the surrounding areas and you’ll pay double the IBI tax than on an equivalent sized property in Rojales.

It’s depends which area of Pilar you are looking for as you have the town area and the urbanisations, which are a distance from the town centre.

But as choosing the right location is the most important part of moving to Spain, you really need to visit both areas to make your own mind up. Drive round both areas, stop in a bar and you’ll soon find someone local to answer your questions.

Hello ferguson52, This move is important for the rest of your life; I think a few nights in a local hotel is well worth the time & trouble. Peter 132
