Hi all

My husband and I are thinking of buying a house in El Raso and just have a few questions;

- Are the restaurants/bars nearby open in winter?

-Are the pools open in winter or is it too cold?

-What is the climate like in winter?

-Does the urbanisation have a community feel still in winter, do residents live there throughout the year?

many thanks

Generally winter can feel very cold but with sunny days, swimming pools would probably close from September and many of the restaurants would close for the winter months.

There will be permanent residents as well as holiday home visitors as in most places this fluctuates throughout the year.

I live on El Raso and although it’s down to each individual community I don’t know of a single pool that closes  for the winter. Pools are only for hardy souls between October and April, the water temperature is far too cold.

The bars and restaurants open all year round. Each bar/restaurant will close for a couple of weeks Jan/Feb either for rest or renovations, but they don’t close at the same time. Even at the moment most of the bars close one day a week, so The El Bar close Mondays, Legends close Wednesday, OBriens close Thursday etc. However the Lounge Bar did close for winter earlier this year, but it’s a cocktail bar (affiliated to Stan & Ollie’s) and not many of us residents spend our evenings drinking cocktails.

There’s a pleasant mix of residents and holiday home owners on El Raso and a mix of nationalities. Although some parts of El Raso do have more holiday homes than residents.

The bars/restaurants play host to a vast number of groups and societies, these run all year, except for maybe August when it’s too hot to do anything. But there’s plenty of entertainment , music,  quizzes etc to keep you entertained all year.

Our bus service to Guardamar runs right through the year.

We had our first tapas trail and fiesta this year, which was great fun and was so popular it’s being extended next year.

Weather in winter  is colder than most people imagine it’s usually hotter outdoors as Spanish homes aren’t very well insulated.

If you need any more information please don’t hesitate to send me a PM

Lynn
