We have lived in Spain for over 7 years now are beyond retirement age both have our SIP cards and have enjoyed free prescriptions since we have been here. However for the past 3 months I have been charged 10% for my prescriptions whilst my wife still has no charge. The chemist can’t seem to offer an explanation, any ideas why this is happening please.

It's down to your income stated on your tax return. Your income must have taken you just over the threshold. Whereas your wife's income will just be under.

My wife and I are in the same position as you regarding the 10% payment.

Thought it had to be something like that, thanks for the quick response. Alan.
