Are any of the supermarkets better to shop at than others please? Also what/where is recommended for buying meat? Are we best to go to the butchers rather than the supermarket?

In Finestrat you have several supermarkets on the industrial estates.
Carrefour sell everything you need.

Do you mean in the old town, or in the surrounding area? As Steve says, Carrefour has the widest choice of everything, but maybe too much choice until you know your way around it.
