My dog has scheduled a chip, as required in Belgium. This number is registered in a database, DOG ID. For example, the police, veterinarian, with a chip reader, can find the owner in case of loss or accident. So my question is . Is there a registration in Spain and if so, where should I do it?

Hi Dirk,
Spain does have a national database for registering dogs, but I don't know whether it recognises chips from.outside Spain. In the Valencian region, the database is called RIVIA (Registro Informático Valenciano de Identificación Animal), telephone: 902 15 16 40.
It would also be worth checking with your Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) whether they require your dog's DNA to be registered on the chip (Spain introduced a National law 9 years ago, but it was left to the municipalities to roll out the requirements within their individual towns - our own Ayuntamiento only mandated it earlier this year!). If your Ayuntamiento does require you to register your dog's DNA, the simplest way to do this would be to visit your local vet, who can do that and also advise about registration of the chip at the same time. Once registered, you will receive a certificate from RIVIA to confirm it.
Kind regards,
Kim

Wouldn’t your local vet be able to do this or, if not, point you in the right direction on how to do it?
