No flooding there, lot of expats, how far from center depends where you move, La Canalosa is also Nieves. For some people cons would be distance to hospital and it's quit

If your are an extremely fit, vegetarian hermit, who enjoys the thrill of a precarious mountain road as a daily drive, and the thrill of an illegal property, then the Hondons are for you. Otherwise look further down the mountain where there is civilisation. Watch for the howls of protest to this listing.....

My father in law who is 81 has lived there for about 30 years. He loves it and has a great network of friends of all nationalities including Spanish. Different expat nationalities have come and gone over the years, probably for economic reasons, but there is currently a broad mix. It is not a British ghetto. Despite speaking no Spanish he has got on well over the years. It is cheap to live there, he eats out every day- menu del dia. It can be cold in winter and pretty hot in summer and he has no ac but does have a nice pool to cool down in. The village is very sweet, with numerous tapas bars and restaurants centred around a pedestrian square. Adults tend to sit outside eating and drinking late into the night whilst their children run around freely in the square.
As an Alicante city resident myself, the main issue I would have is the need for a car, and reliance on help for lifts to and from the airport- 40 minutes away. Otherwise if you want a relaxing rustic cheap way of life in the sun, Hondon has a lot to recommend it.
Good luck.

Very informative thank you. I did read online that they have had more than there share of burglaries but don't know if that was just a spate.
