Hi everyone, I just bought a house in Hondon de los Frailes and will be moving over in the next week or two. I have loads of questions & am hoping you can help. Here goes:

Can anyone recommend a local English speaking plumber?

Is there a local electrician qualified to do a 'boletin electrico' (I need a new connection)?

Do I need permission from the town hall to have the kerb dropped in front of my house and, if so, do they do the work or do I need to find a builder (recommendations please)?

Does the village have mains gas?

Does the village have fibre optic broadband?

Is there a local 'man with a van' or removal service?

Are there any HDLF facebook pages?

I think that's all for now. TIA for your help, Mick

 Welcome to the forum

A quick search on Facebook pulls up a number of  pages for the village so you will be able to get lots of answers from there as well.

Mains gas is quite a luxury here in Spain I would ask your neighbours if it’s available, but most people if they are wanting gas, need to rely on calor gas bottles.

Same goes with broadband, you will be restricted to certain providers, so you’ll need more local advice than I can provide.

If you are wanting just to upgrade your electric potencia, I would suggest you live with it for a while, the lower option might  actually work for you. The increase is quite a costly purchase and the higher potencia means you’ll be paying more for your electricity. If t’s a new connection  or if the meter has been removed again it’s quite an outlay.

A dropped kerb will most definitely require permission from the ayuntamiento and if it to stop people from parking (including yourself) there’s an annual charge for the service. The exact charge is set by each specific municipality.

Any work you have done within your property, will require a licence whether it’s refurbing the bathroom, to landscaping your terrace.

You’ll find that the Spanish like to make things overly  complicated and nothing will run as smoothly as you would like, but sit back enjoy the sunshine because it will all be worth it in the end.

Thanks Lynn, sounds like I could really do with some local knowledge from somebody living in HDLF; anybody out there?

Hello

You can get several of your questions answered by contacting the Ayuntamiento , so much info is available.   https://www.hondondelosfrailes.es/

Google the Facebook pages to look for tradesmen in the area, dont narrow it down to just Hondon, you might have to seek help from  tradesmen located in other areas

Cheers
