Thanks Kimmy

The certificate has already been updated, before I even got round to reading your post! The system is working!

Cheers

Steve

You can print your certificate, as you’ve found out. But the QR code isn’t readable for 14 days, so you’ll still need to present the 2/2  certificate at bars/restaurants.

Hi Lynn,

Where does that information come from please?  I had my booster on a Friday, downloaded my new certificate the following Monday and successfully used it, less than a week later, on the Thursday 🤔

Thanks and regards,

Kim

I tried to use mine about 2 or 3 days later  and the QR code came up as invalid.

I was told by the bars using the QR checker app approved by the GVA they’d had problems  with lots of people who’d downloaded and tried to us the 3/3 cert right away, as when scanned the checker although it gave the correct name, DOB and date of last jab, the QR code had a big cross next to it.

I noticed the same thing happening in another couple of bars, some bars just accepted looking at the downloaded certificate, others insisted on checking a valid QR code, most people, myself included, still had copies of their 2/2 certificate on their phone.

I’ve downloaded the app myself, kept checking  and sure enough the QR code was valid exactly 14 days later.

It seemed it was similar to the first double jabbed certificate, we downloaded when we were told it was only valid 14 days after the second jab. In those days though, we only needed the certificate for travel and nobody had developed an app to  read the code.

But then if yours works, then perhaps it’s something as simple as someone pressing the right button on a computer to update the information, as and when. I had my booster on 30th December so it was only the end of  last week the QR code worked..

. My mother had both her jabs last august . I downloaded her certificate that has the QR in the right hand corner ….but it comes up as “ no useable data “  .   Even redownloaded recently but same problem

You cannot read the QR code with just any old QR reader.

Most of us have an app already on our phones to enable us to read adverts or menus. That QR app will not read the QR code as the EUDCC is  encrypted  for security/safety reasons.

I suspect your mother has visited a bar/restaurant in the past month and has successfully gained entry with her QR code. The bars have been told to use a specific app which allows them to read the data. The app is a reader only and cannot store any information, unlike the normal QR code reader which reads and stores.

Thanks for that , Lynn, yes, I had done some poking around the web and yes, only certain machines can read it .  I’m guessing not all bars n restaurants have the money to invest in a machine like that .

Mum doesnt have a smart phone so has paper version but it was me who was testing it. She doesn’t enter bars any more , generally speaking
