Hello everyone. Just arrived in La Finca as a permanent resident, 2 weeks today!!

Myself and my wife will be starting the ‘become a resident’ process in the coming weeks and I understand we require full private healthcare insurance as we are both under the statutory retirement age and won’t be working. It is something we would have done whether it was needed for residency or not and I have googled it but would rather take advice from current residents.

Any advice, tips or knowledge about healthcare (and dental) insurance would be very much appreciated.

I have no doubt I will be asking more over the coming weeks, please bare with us as ‘newbies’.

Thank you

Darren

When we arranged our private health insurance which we needed to apply for Residencia we used Gran Alacant Insurance and dealt with Alfonso, very professional and friendly, English speaking, we were delighted with the entire service and process, tel 966390830 or email granalacantinsurances@gmail.com, tell him John and Gillian from La Zenia recommended him.

we did it in December, ensure when you are buying that the company cover everything that is required for residency. every office interpret the rules differently. we used a translator who was fantastic and because he uses three different offices knew what we required.

Asser were recommended to us , and they have an office near zenia boulevard. There is also a company called caser, who are cheaper, but it depends on what you require to be covered, asser and caser send contracts and paperwork in English and Spanish which is a requirement for residency.

I would speak to someone and book very soon as for obvious reasons the appointments before march are booking up very fast.

Have a look at the citizens advice spain website.

They give advice on what you should ensure your health insurance covers (to be fully covered health wise, not purely for residency).

We did lots of research and finally went through Salt Bay brokers in Torrevieja.

We have the Salus excellent policy.

Price the same through broker but we like having a person we know at end of phone or email for any queries.
