Can anyone help or advise on transporting furniture and belongings to our Spanish holiday home? Non permanent residents.

We have recently bought a property and now want to take some furniture from our uk home via ferry through Bilboa or Santander by van.

There doesn’t seem to be any clear guidance on the exact requirements for paperwork or what the procedure is when entering Spain. Most of our stuff we’ve owned for years with the exception of some new kitchen items and refurbished pieces and paintings, total value probably £1000. I thought it would be straight forward but now confused about import duty tax and the random stories about lack of information and difficulties at the port. Has it become easier of late? Planning to go end of may early june

For the Spanish customs you should set up a detailed manifest specifying every single item and its actual value making clear that all items are used personal effects w/o commercial value. Have this declaration stamped by the Spanish consulate and hand it to customs in Bilbao upon arrival. Good luck.
