Bank account
Hi, I need some advice on how to open a Spanish bank account. What exactly is the procedure? Is it difficult or is it quite straight forward.
Many thanks

Are you a legal resident or do you want to open a non resident account?

Hi Susan,
If you´re in Spain it´s very easy - walk into the bank of your choice with your passport and NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero - Foreigners Identity number), and a small amount of cash with which to open the account.
Fees for non-resident accounts are high, around €45 per quarter, so unless you are going to be living permanently in Spain, I´d recommend looking at an online account instead, such as Wise, N26, Revolut, or any online bank that has an EU IBAN (international bank account number), as this will enable you to pay direct debits for utilities, etc.
Kind regards,
Kim
