Elon Musk has just launched

Stratolink (Starlink) into space.  This is a satellite based internet service, which can give internet service to people out of reach of normal cable/wifi servers.

Could be very useful for countries like Ukraine who on the Invasion by Russia had all their internet facilities cut off.

I think the Russian people need to realise that their leader and his gang of thieves are leading the country to disaster.Russian people deserve better.

I agree haven been there Russian people are very friendly and by no means reflect the views of Putin.

Problem is if they showed their opposition they would be imprisoned

Unfortunately, many believe Putin's broadcasts. The Russian population has always been down trodden. Its not that long ago that they queued for hours for a loaf of bread, while the leaders were parading around in Fur coats in limosines. Some Ukrainian's have contacted their families that live in Russia and they don't believe what their own families are telling them. Its all state controled the TV and the media. Its only the young that get the true news through socail media.

Russia should be isolated on every front. I wish somene would shoot him. He is vile just like Hitler. The West knew he's been planning this for years and should have been more prepared for this outcome. Yet again a huge country is controled by a madman and the population goes along with them. When they take control of Ukraine it won't end there, other former USSR countries are the next. If he enters a Nato country the west will be at war with Russia. There is no other option.

No the answer is not to shoot Putin. ( He would become a hero ) Then the shit would hit the fan for us all.

The only way this ends peacefully is that the Russian oligarchs and the kremlin turn on him

I don't disagree about Putin, but as the saying goes be careful what you wish for Russia & the West could end up with someone far worse.

Then the logic would be for western leaders not to be so greedy for Russian money.

News overnight is Europe's largest nuclear reactor in Ukraine is on fire after being shelled by Putin's tanks. I don't think you could get worse than Putin. In fact if this goes into full meltdown it could be 5x Chernobyl and potentially deemed an act of war on NATO. Balloon goes up. There is no doubt Putin is trying to drag NATO in. Maybe he has cancer or has some other terminal illness and wants to go out in a blaze of fire. This can only explain his brutal madness.

I agree if you look at him he's bloated and that indicates steroids. It was reported last year he had cancer and he wasn't seen in public for many months. If you notice he sits on his own away from his hench men at the big table. There will be no peaceful outcome, you cannot negociate with a madman. He has broken any peace by entering a free country with weapons intent on taking it over. He's gone for the ports on the Black sea for his ships and nuclear submarines.

We should have been doing far more for years in regard to our energy and never encouraged the Russian Oligarchs to buy up all the top London property and buy our football clubs, just to fund the overpaid football players, half a million +a week to kick a football around. Germany in particular has heavily relied on Russian gas far more than any other EU country.

I see this as he wants the old USSR reclaimed for his legacy. He won't stop until he acheives his goal.

Exactly. Not to late to begin to reduce our reliance on gas and oil. Just as France has done - many safe nuclear reactors in France. Germany only decided to go nuclear free after Fukushima. A total overreaction on Germany's part. Now they are between a rock and a hard place. They need to reactivate as many as possible (if mothballed) and as I consider this to be an emergency situation the UK has to open coal fired plants or build some together with wind, solar and the new  micro-reactors offered by Rolls Royce. We have all let our governments feed their greed and personal chummy contracts an d got us all into a blackmail situation with a madman. At least with the old USSR you had the Politburo and their checks and balances. Now we are dealing with a gangster everyone around him is afraid of and who has nothing to lose.

RIP to the people of Ukraine who have passed. No if or buts for these REAL refugees. We all need to find them space. I have an empty flat in Spain - If Spain offers a scheme I will let a family there rent free. There are MANY empty holiday apartments and villas there and I would have no issues with this type of help.
