Travelling to Alicante on 23rd on essential basis. I'm unvaxxed and will pcr test before travelling. Does anybody know the current UK return rules re. Day 2 and day 8 lat flow tests? Been told only day 2 is needed but difficult to find via uk government site.

Rule changes about returning to England after 11th February below
https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
But if you are a non resident you are not allowed to enter Spain from the U.K. unless you are vaccinated

Hi. Thanks for that. I believe I can as I am travelling on essential business as I own a property there and need to undertake repairs. Unless I am wrong but this is what I have heard. I am unable to have the vaccine for medical reasons and really need to get back to liase with contractors for a refit.
Many thanks

It doesn’t look as though there’s anything on the list of exemptions to allow you entry.
Check the list for exemptions for third countries on that last link on my previous post.
At once stage you would have been allowed in with a test, but the that was before they changed the rules a couple of months ago.

Yep it does seem that way as I cannot see anything myself. Probably gonna chance it anyway - worst thing is I'll be sent on the next flight home!

Not sure you’d get a QR code on the SpTH form.
You also realise that as you are not vaccinated, you will need to take a certified test to be able to enter bars and restaurants

It’s quite likely that you won’t get that far to be put on the next flight home. Every airline checks that you meet the requirements for entering the country you are travelling to before they permit boarding in the UK. And you will not get a refund because the carriers will already have met their legal obligations by informing you about this prior to you attempting to travel. I feel sorry for your situation and don’t want you to loose money, you may be able to change your flight dates for free (depending on carriers) but if you just turn up at the airport in the UK they will not let you fly.

So the SpTH form will not all me to board the flight from London? I have just been told that from someone else. If so that's really depressing. Plus I have a 3 bedroom property going to waste when I was about to long term rent it - I was planning to refit kitchen/bathrooms etc. (adding to Spanish GDP) Now it's still going to be empty. I think Spain need to rethink their rules (my opinion) as we're out of Delta and into (mild cold) Omnicron. Just heard on Sky News huge uptake in Turkish tourism and a fall in Spain. It's madness and I feel it's going to change in a couple of months when common sense kicks in. Too late for me as I already booked flights!
Thanks for the replys guys.....the return flights were only £55 so not a biggie.....I am on specialist meds and advised by my GP not to take the vax but I know that won't cut the mustard - I am certainly not anti-vax. Probably leave it to the last second just in case Spain change the rules....not counting my chickens though....wish this was all over and in the main it is. Delta has fizzled out and what's left is part of life now,

Ok, that’s not a lot to loose financially, but I agree it’s frustrating, you should have checked it all out before booking. As I said earlier you won’t be allowed to board unless you meet Spain’s regs for entry, which is fully vaccinated so the airline won’t let you travel. Additionally you won’t be allowed to enter most bars or restraints without proof of vaccination. Things will change in Spain (eventually) . It’s frustrating in as much as the UK are now saying that by the end of this month there will be no restrictions, even if you are confirmed as having covid you won’t have to isolate, just go about normal life !. Also I’m sure you must agree that going to Spain to discuss work on your property so you can rent it out is not really classed as essential travel. Hang on, see how things go, but don’t hold your breath. I wish you all the best and hope that Spain (Europe) soon reaches the same conclusions as the UK.

Yep you are correct I SHOULD have checked but I was going on the basis that BoJo's Dad used this (loophole?) to come and go during the pandemic to care for his rental/2nd home in Greece so I assumed it was EU wide and for Spain also. I recall he was always flying there to 'maintain' his AirBNB !! My bad - I suppose one rule for the elite?
Very frustrating as I needed to do just about everything within the 2 weeks I would have been there I would not have time to even glance at a beach!
Thanks for all your info - will try again later in the year.
