As previously mentioned, traffic in beach areas can be a nightmare in the summer months, especially August.

It can take twice as long to get from A to B Because of all the holidaymakers.

Parking close to the beach can be a nightmare so try and find a property with parking either on your own drive or underground parking. It’s mainly Spanish holiday makers, who drive down from Madrid and may not even move their car the whole time they are here.

Buying in a beach location you do need to visit at different times of the year, as the area will look and feel totally different in January to what it does in August.

But it’s a fabulous area to live.  Happy House Hunting!

Lynn

Thanks Lynn. Me and Sue are looking forward to coming over to look around . Paul and Sue

Do you mean areas of La Mata village to Cabo Cervera? I don't think there are any no go areas. ElinSpain might have a few tips on streets to avoid maybe. There are some hilly areas in parts of Cabo Cervera and the streets up to Carretera Torrejon from there which you would need to keep in mind if walking to and from the beach. But from La Mata village to the start of Cabo Cervera it is  flat. You can have a look on the webcam for La Mata  beach . The Playa de La Mata camera is the southern end. Cabo Cervera, Molino Blanco and then down to La Mata village.

My only tip is don't open a Spanish Bank Account. It is a waste of money and time. As a non-resident you don't need it. If from UK you can use Wise or any other on-line Bank. You can pay all your D/Ds through wise for your utilities, SUMA etc. I don't use Wise but there are lots of posts from those who do. I use our own Irish Bank to pay all bills for Spain.

You could try using Revolut as it’s a EU based IBAN and BIC and is good for FX aswell.

We are an Irish couple who bought a place over there about 5 years ago. We are at the southern end of La Mata beach, at the top of Avienda del Agua and we love it there. Bus stop is outside our complex and Dial Prix a 3 minute walk, mercadona less than 10 minutes. A good selection of pubs and restaurants within a relatively short walk. We have great sea views from our apartment and are a few minutes walk from the beach(see bio pic). It’s a nice walk along the boardwalk to the square in La Mata (about 2 km) which is perfect for a little exercise. Best of luck with your property search ! You can PM me if you have any questions.

Seems quite a little group of us on here are in the Molino Blanco end of La Mata.  I’m just behind Efficax estate agents on Avenida del Agua.  Been here 5 years too. It’s great for everything- buses, supermarket , sea , restaurants ….
