Hi All. Just arrived in our apartment after 2 yrs! Most ok thank goodness,  except the stainless steel in the bathroom ie taps  shower etc have all pitted!  In hindsight it may have been a good idea had we left the doors open a little??  I'm hoping some 'experts' on the forum may have any ideas how we can get them back to silver (if at all). Would Cilit Bang be good to try (or not).  Would be grateful of any ideas to help please. Many Thanks😁

Hi Magpiemother,

It depends how badly pitted the taps are - you could buy a chrome polish from a car accessories shop, but a cheaper solution would be to spray undiluted white vinegar over the chrome and work it into the corrosion with a toothbrush.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim

Pink Stuff paste is a miracle cleaner in a tub and cleans up  most things.

Kim’s suggestion of white vinegar is excellent or  try rubbing half a lemon onto the taps. The acid in both items are great cleaning agents.

You can buy an anti calc cleaner, spray on and leave for a few hours, before rinsing

Hi Lynn

I like the sound of Pink Stuff but don't recall seeing it, where can I buy it  please?

Cheers

It’s available in Tesco, Iceland and Pic n Pay in Guardamar. The spray and the cream cleaner although they smell divine are nowhere near as good as the paste in the tub.

It’s great for any heavy duty cleaning, grills, barbecues etc. I had some white upvc chairs that had gone black and was going to throw them out, with the help of a sponge scourer and some pink stuff an hour later I had four dazzling white chairs.

Thank you all for your suggestions, 🤞 I will certainly give it a go and hope for the best!  Failing that it's a journey to Leroy Merlin next trip 😁

Be careful not to use anything containing ANY kind of cutting/scouring agent, they will exacerbate the problem by scratching the chrome. Is it limescale on the surfaceor has the chrome finish actually pitted down to the brass? If the latter, it will be new brassware. If limescale, as already suggested, vinegar or lemon juice, if you soak a piece of rag or kitchen roll and wrap it round the area and leave for some time. Repeat as necessary. Or HG the famous chemicals outfit, supplies a very good limescale spray.
