Ive had a call from my Drs. surgery today inviting me for a blood/urine test..... as its almost a year since I had one!

Normally. a blood test appt. is given to me  when I am vising my Dr. for any medical problems  but Ive  never  had just a routine call  with appt.....

Is this normal  practice now - I was quite impressed?

Cheers

Hi El,

Coincidentally, my private health insurance provides for annual, routine blood tests.  Without wanting to be indelicate, have you reached a significant birthday during Covid?  I wonder whether that would trigger a change in the extent of preventative State healthcare?  Or perhaps they're just being extra thorough, because so many people avoided health centres and hospitals while Covid was at its height?  Even though I don't have State healthcare, I was recently invited by GVA Salut to take a diagnostic test for bowel cancer.  Like you, I'm pretty impressed.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim, I pay roughly 100 Euro a month phi for the last 18 months!! And not once received or used this service, I am not even registered with a local doctor, all I have is a phi card with a phone number, I receive more txt messages from my old uk health authority, I just hope and god forbid that if I do require any medical treatment I get what I signed up for, I am looking at the Spanish health system at 60 Euro per month and hopefully move over to that and then when entitled to uk state pension in 4 years I can use the S1 system here in Spain for free.

Hi Peter,

Who are you insured with?  I'm with ASSSA.  I can't remember the reason I initially needed to see a doctor, but having registered with the closest surgery to our location, from ASSSA's directory, they asked when I had last had blood tests.  I've been having them annually ever since.  My husband, who has never needed to visit the doctor, has not had annual blood tests, so it seems that once you're on their radar, they start to look after you.  Why wouldn't they, when they're being paid by our insurer?!  ;o)

Kind regards,

Kim

Good Morning Kim

Haha, no significant birthday to explain away the offered appt. just the reason that it was almost a year since I last had  a blood test.  It's all good  though & much better to be proactive than reactive..

Cheers

El.

Hi El

Not quite the same thing, but I had a routine appt. with my nurse yesterday and I mentioned that I hadn't had a blood test for a while - so he booked one for me. Much better than having to see the doctor just to ask for a test!

But now that YoSalut is dead, there's no way to access the results online! Doh!

Cheers

Steve

I had the same a few weeks ago, blood test then ECG and sample etc., back to the doctors in two weeks for the results, so it looks like it is now normal to receive a phone call inviting us for tests!
