It a very common accurance for Spanish drivers and often copied by the English whilst driving in Spain.

Nope, you are totally wrong.  I was born and bred in Nottingham 😁

I too have encountered the most outrageous and unbelievable road maneuvers on the Costa Blanca by people who somehow don’t believe the road speed limits are correct !  They feel they can at least add another 30 KPH to the road speed so if they encounter someone driving at the correct road ...

...speed they will either try and force them to drive faster or even worse risk their life and yours and oncoming traffic to get in front by using maneuvers that definitely aren’t in the Highway code ! I have been left speechless by some of the angry and dangerous driving all for basically to gain a few  seconds and generally you end up behind them again eventually ! Crazy people !!!

I can atest to this madness..The stretch along the 2 laned road coming from the airport just past Gran Alicant and alongside the lake is where I hate driving..These obvious locals think it's normal to tailgate you and then overtake with the tightest of margins with oncoming traffic..never seen that recklessness before.. Arrogant really..

You're in their country and that is the habits of the locals , why not just accept it rather than critics,  or just don't drive !

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

It really does not matter what country you happen to be in, there are always bad and crazy uncaring drivers.

Just always be alert and as I have taught my children, the other driver just might do something stupid so be ready to react accordingly..

Keep safe..

My experiences in a car and on a bicycle have been very positive and I would say more relaxed in Spain than the UK.

I'm a regular user of the N332 between Alicante and Cartagena in a hire car. As has been mentioned, roundabouts are different in the choice of lanes but once you accept this it all seems pretty straightforward.

I haven't cycled around Alicante centre but have done Cartagena centre numerous times. No issues whatsoever. Cycling on rural roads is a doddle compared with UK. Vehicles pass at a decent distance and wait until they can. No shouting or aggression. Unlike the UK.
