Our sat nav took us right through the centre of Paris, rush hour in the rain! First time we had ever been there. Nightmare, nearly killed me !    Never again, never even heard a horn though 🤷‍♀️

Drivers will try and intimidate by tailgating if they feel you are not driving quickly enough. My biggest gripe is drivers not indicating when approaching roundabouts or junctions, seems indicators on Spanish cars are an optional extra.

It appears indicators on Spain are for parking on pedestrian crossings. That's the main place I see them in use 😔

A U.K. driver in Spain was fined for indicating left as entering a roundabout. I think they must assume the driver is going to go round the Wrong way!  Logic really .  Actually the way the Spanish and French use Roundabouts is far Safer than in the U.K.   They treat the roundabout ...

...as a straight road with right turns,    you just indicate when you want to leave, and Must be in the “going off” lane immediately after the previous exit. I can spot a Spanish or French driver by the way they take roundabouts in Scotland. My right hand indicator failed one day in Almeria ,  taking a roundabout was so easy, just made sure I was in the correct lane ,at the correct time and turned off.  It’s the U.K. that’s useless.

Basically the best thing to do with a roundabout here in spain is make the roundabout bigger. Remove the lane that only the British use because that's how we were taught. There is absolutely no reason for the inside lane using the Spanish driving test. Problem is though you get differing views on which lane to use from whichever region posts their way of using the lanes.

Hi Lukas,

if you find driving in Spain quite pleasant and problem free then I can only assume you are driving a police car?

Aitch.

Like Lukas, I find driving in Spain no problem.   In fact, I prefer to drive here against driving in England when I visit there.

I used to be terrified driving in Spain, only motorways though. That was 25. years ago. So much nicer now ,no different from U.K. However, It’s getting dangerous nowadays, people on phones and texting !

Try driving in India, Horns 24 hrs.' a day . It is a nightmare 😂

Also Egypt, in Cairo 5 cars wide in 3 lanes, all honking horns day and night.

Personally, I've not experienced much around me, at Cabo Roig, not even around Torrevieja.

Hi,

I don't mind driving in Spain or the UK, it's probably about perception and whereabouts you drive in each country. Statistically the UK is one of the safest countries in Europe in which to drive.

They are no different in the Uk, selfish idiots once they get behind the wheel all manners and obedience to Highway Code goes out of the window, won’t get any better in the uk till courts start crushing cars of the offender , which I advicat

I hear you - a car broke down in front of us coming out of the departures zone at Alicante over summer - wow it was one way to turn all other drivers feral. I know they had to consider the time limit but by god even if the driver could have started the car they would have stalled it thru intimidation
