Who has a holiday home and also has travel insurance or relies on the e111.

I know the latter won’t get you home or sort funeral costs, but I’m curious who does what?

We have a holiday home.

We have an annual travel policy that covers us for the required number of days holiday. There are restrictions on many policies. Ours covers us for 45 days, so we do not exceed that time on a single trip.

We also have E111's and carry them with us all the time.

Personally I would always have a travel insurance policy, there are many companies on line who will cover preexisting conditions, so check them out!

We have a second home in Playa Flamenca.  We have annual travel policies.  Mine is more expensive as I have medical issues that have to be declared but definitely worth it because an EHIC only covers emergency care, nothing else.  Much cheaper to get annual cover than a fresh policy each time and also means we can travel at short notice too.  The cover offered with airline tickets wont cover undeclared pre-existing conditions.

Hi, we have an annual policy with Ehic plus, its an extension of the Ehic where, we felt things like cancellations, lost baggage etc were not the priority but health care was. As we both have serious medical issues to declare, this policy covers everything incl repatriation if necessary. You have options to length of stay upto 90 days(which makes it a little dearer) but compared to the big named Insurance Companies quotes, I,ve paid half of their quotes, so very inexpensive. Thankfully after 4yrs using them we have not needed to claim so cant answer for that service but I,m confident they will live up to their promises.

Pauline.
