In the UK rather than go to the silly expense of a very expensive funeral you can arrange for your body to be cremated and the ashes returned to your home in the UK (Direct Cremation). This be either a pre paid plan or at the time of the death (Time Of Need).

Is there anything similar in Spain please. Any recommendation's ?

By the way im not expecting to use the service any time soon

Quite a few. Golden Leaves and Expat Funeral Plans and Avalon if you want to deal with British ones.

A fair few Spanish ones as well such as Funos, Funeraria Nostrum etc.

Don’t touch ‘Iberian Funeral Plans’ with a barge poll .. just when you need the care and service you thought you were buying into, they let you down and are utterly shambolic.

Hi Doug,

Yes, hopefully, this service will certainly not be required any time soon for you!

We have a direct-to-cremation plan (which is what you describe is called) at 2595€ inclusive of IVA

It can be paid with a 595€ deposit and interest repayments over 12 or 24 months.

For more info, just give us a call on 865 056 758

Kind regards

Paul

Hi

Do you have anything where you can be called on the "day of passing away "or are they all prepaid plans please.

Effectively, you would organise the plan in advance and then one of your friends or family would make contact on the day of your passing so that the plan and associated instructions could be actioned accordingly.

I'm interested to know how you formed this opinion as I have 2 funeral plans with this company.

Your local crematorium will help , even without a funeral plan.

When my father passed , the hospital called them to remove the body ( it was the wee small hours ) and we were contacted by the crematorium the next day.

We went out to discuss arrangements , complete forms etc and 3 days later it was done n dusted ( body storage gets charged after day 3 if I remember correctly ) .   Very simple , no fuss..ashes were delivered to the house that evening along with 3 copies of the death certificate .
cost around €2400 if I remember correctly .
