Hi

My wife and I are looking to buy a property in or near La Zenia as a holiday home.  We are working on getting our NIE and bank account sorted.  We are doing plenty of online searches for property and have a few visits planned.  My question is what are the rough fees for buying a property.  I hear we need to expect a 12% on top of the purchase price but what does this include? How much should I expect an estate agent to charge me and what would you all say is the going rate for a solicitor for the sorting out NIEs, bank account and conveyancing etc.  What is the current tax on a property purchase and is there any other fees I can expect to pay?  This just for the purchase as the running costs are another question for another day

Thanks very much for this, very helpful.  I thought estate agents were charging buyers as well so that’s good to hear that it is not expected

Estate agents make their money by selling a property for more than the buyer is asking. If you see a property you want, have a word with the seller to see what they want, then start negotiating - hard - with the estate agent.
