I see that the illegal cannabis  club is still functioning on Calle Maestro Torralba, even though it is run by squatters who have taken over the place. Has been reported to the police and local authorities by the owner, Zenia Sol II administration, local establishment business owners and concerned citizens.  Amazing what you can get away with in Spain if you are Spanish.

Hi Hew. How do you know it's illegal? There's lots of legitimate cannabis clubs here? I'm not saying you're wrong but it can be a touchy subject

Hi Martin, you are right in saying such clubs exist legally, but they are registered and have regular visits and checks by the police / authorities etc. Very strict regulations which they have to conform to, that’s fine!. This one is being operated by squatters who have taken over someone else’s property without their permission. So obviously do  not comply with any of the above. The point I was highlighting is that the police say they can do nothing about it ?.  Be honest, they are not even real squatters in the sense of the law, they are people who have stolen someone’s property so that they can operate a business from it, irrespective of its nature. But a cannabis club is rubbing it in a bit don’t you think. I know that they are squatters because the community administrators have confirmed this with all their members, Just saying it’s a strange law, or lack of law that basically condones this!

I know how they get around the law. Obviously squatters get theor rights for some reason however if they grow their own cannabis they are legally allowed 2/3 plants per person per household. So if there is 4 of them that's atleast 8 plants they can legally grow for their own use. Then the police come and they claim their squatters rights and say the cannabis is for their own personal use and people coming back and forth are family and friends. I feel sorry for the local owner and it's very unfortunate that these people are allowed to get away with it.

Ok, best get down the garden centre, already have sufficient plant pots, cheers.
