Dan from AMPS advised me on which one to buy. Found the company had an Ebay page and bought though it paying by Paypal.

Hi Lori, I can't fin AMPS on eBay and I really fancy the idea of bringing a coin meter over. Have you more info how to contact them?

Seems to have put up his charges then, because we definately got 750 Euros worth of cards when he fitted our meter. Probably was 50 cents that he quoted us per 10 Euro card, I didn't write that down at the time and was speaking from my poor memory.

Just be aware that Air Conditioning, especially the modern inverters, don't like the power suddenly being pulled and switched on again. They sometimes require a reset/reboot.

Hello all, thanks for some useful information reading through this thread. I just wanted an update on how the meters are working out for you till date?

I heard the tourist license doesn't all AC meters for holiday guests anymore. I'm not sure how true that is, does anyone know and how does it affect you? What other methods could you suggest please if you know to prevent guests abusing electricity and keep bills to minimum

We stopped renting our apartment out so had it removed.

A word of warning though, (IF, they are still legal under new rules) we found the supplier of our meter had put up the cost of replacement cards which added to the overhead costs. We didn't think it was fair to increase the rates charged, so we ended up tracking down  the manufacturer who supplied us with a lot more cards at a cheaper rate. However, there was a minimum order, which it turned out we didn't use due to the meters removal.

Thanks very much for your response. I think if they're still legal, I'll go for the coin ones, or perhaps simply a meter that shows how much electricity used during a stay, and then calculate the cost from that. Hoping I could find this possibly

Thanks

Ours now been in 5yrs, bought euro coin meter from eBay in uk, took it out there, had local sparky install.  Set up so no loss/profit….hardly have any renters now but still a safe guard if we do.   I like it because we’re paying for our electric as we go, when coin tray full it’s just taken to the bank and our electric bills are covered….we can also calculate daily cost for air con use etc so very interesting….it’s brilliant
