If your utility bills aren’t being paid correctly then it’s most probably down to your bank.
All utilities and SUMA accept EU IBAN numbers, but that’s always been the case.
You mention Brexit , which makes me think think you haven’t visited your bank for a couple of years.
Under their T & C’s you have to confirm your identity every couple of years.
You need to make an appointment to visit your bank, taking your passport and NIE number.
If they stop paying your electric as an example, you will have to prove to the electric company that the account is fully paid. If the bank miss a few payments it’s possible your meter will be disconnected and you’ll then have to prove that your electric wiring meets the suppliers standards, before they will reconnect you. As well as charging you a hefty reconnection fee.
You need to visit your bank asap.
