Nie cards

We are moving to Los altos in September we agree renting for the first 2 months which is the best way to get our nie cards we was going to use sun layers but they want 500pounds  now before we come is this ok

There is no NIE card, it is a piece of paper.

There is a green "residency" card, which will also give you an NIE if you don't already have one.

Neither are difficult to apply for, or providing you meet the criteria, obtain.

You can get a NIE in the UK at the Spanish Consul, printed on a piece of paper. In Amsterdam it costs about 10 EUR valid for a lifetime. Try that first, saves a lot of money.

I agree, I did mine at the Spanish Consulate in London. You have to make an appointment and if I remember correctly the office closes at lunchtime. We filled in a form (they even gave us a translated blank so we knew what we were signing) handed over the fee,cant remember how much, I think it was a tenner then. We then received our NIE from the Spanish police about a week later. If you google:
