Hi everyone, my nephew has just holidayed in Los Altos in August, he has been before and Really enjoyed it, but he said it felt different, a lot of signs was blocked off especially ones to La Zenia beach, but couldn’t understand why, and a few of the bars/restaurants they went in ( and I can imagine how much money they spent in them ) staff was sometimes very rude, he hasn’t experienced it before and he’s been about 5 times, I wondered if anyone else noticed or if it’s happened to anyone else, it seems strange as we have been coming over for 10 years now ( but not been for a couple of years now ) and we have never had anyone be rude to us.

I noticed this year, staff in some restaurants was very selective with serving customers. I was with non english group, so it is not anti english behaviour. We had in our small group of 4 people disabled person in a wheelchair. Sad to say, could not get a drink or food from some establishments, even the places were almost empty. Pre Covid, I had good experience in these places...

Hi

You say "a lot of signs was blocked off" - can you elaborate? I drive past Via Park 3 regularly and have never noticed anything?

Mind you, I can't remember ever seeing a sign specifically for La Zenia Beach.

Cheers

Steve

I've seen things like this before, which appear to be when locals who speak Valenciana object to signs in "Spanish". But I haven't previously noticed them around Punta Prima/Los Altos before.

However, there is a fair bit of graffiti by the far right Vox party and the recent general election has, I think, given them a boost. They may, I guess, object to foreign companies like Aldi and foreigners in general, but I'm not political enough to be sure about this.

As for bar staff, I can think of a few who have been fired recently simply because of supply and demand now the summer season is over - that's not gonna put them in a good mood!

I think bars owners are still trying to recover their losses from stupid lock down laws.

Who knows...?

Cheers

Graffiti has always been a problem in Spain, but I do think since Brexit there has been a more anti British attitude by some, not all but its there.

I have also found that Covid has brought out a lot of agression and entitlement in people, not just in Spain but everwhere and business is trying to squeeze money out of customers in everyway possible. Locking people up was a terrible thing, humans are in the main social beings, but isolation has made many very selfish and rude.

I’ve just been on Spain anti-tourism, does anyone think this is the same as what I was asking.
