Hi we have just bought a smart tv and plugged it in and have Spanish tv and Netflix (we have a subscription). Some lovely friends of ours gave us a google chromecast but we can’t get it to work. We have good fibre internet, the TV connects to the internet and the chromecast connects but the chromecast doesn’t seem to connect to the phone correctly. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with chromecast? Thanks for any help.

"the TV connects to the internet" - makes no difference, as the chromecast connects to your internet separately.

" and the chromecast connects" - connects to what...??

Have you followed the simple set up instructions for the chromecast?...as you need to set it up using a phone or tablet,..and they can only do that if they are connected together on the same "wifi" network...using the google Home app....via chromecast.com/setup

And are you using it correctly, as not all apps work with chromecast, and most you have to press the cast button for it to work...

And not all devices are compatiable with chromecast..eg out of date or non compatiable devices

Have you tried casting directly to your smart TV? It's possible you don't need to use your chromecast. We do this on our Samsung TV. The advantage of chromecast is, you can use your phone /tablet to other things while watching TV.

Thanks. Yes we have the google home app on the phone. Everything connects to the same wifi network but the phones, (we have tried several)  don’t connect to the chromecast.

Hi. We think it might be our router settings. Chromecast and our phones are both on the same network (we only have one). We used google home to try to connect them. Initially it says connected but this is quickly followed by the following message.

Just to update. We contacted our internet supplier who remotely adjusted our router and chromecast works perfectly now. Thank you everyone.
