As an antidote to all the negative press in recent days take a look at this article. Recently the morons that are about have been getting all the headlines but the majority of people are following the rules, are trying to help their friends and neighbours and are by far the majority.

Keep positive and keep safe.

Because the volunteers are retired trained medical staff, maternity returns.. but there are untrained places to be filled.. cleaners, cooks etc... what people in other countries could fly or travel in now?

Plus, it doesnt take a soldier or trained Dr to deliver shopping or meds.. get a grip RayD... these are modern times.. UK is doing ok at the moment..

Stay well people.. if Prince Charles can get it, any one can!

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I don't think the initiative should be nitpicked over but rather recognise that it demonstrates that people in Britain are willing to do what they can to help and credit to them for doing so. I'm sure given more time then it would be different but that is not an option at the moment.

Other than helping people who might not otherwise get assistance the volunteers free up other bodies, such as the armed forces, to concentrate on helping to create additional NHS facilities, the conversion of the Excel centre in Docklands being one great initiative.

There are a lot of good initiatives going on, I'd rather recognise them than highlight the likes of the morons shown last week in Benidorm!

The number of volunteers has now surpassed the 250,000 target.
