Just for info, we had our BA flight back to the UK cancelled. It was scheduled on 7th Nov. After early November there are now no direct BA flights between Alicante and London. I did see a comment that direct flights between London and Alicante are cancelled until January but I do not know that for sure.

The BA system allowed us to rebook flights on-line, via Madrid. Air Nostrum from Alicante to Madrid, Iberia from Madrid to London. We could not get flights on the 7th and we are returning 2 days earlier. There was no extra charge.

If you have BA flights back to London in November/December I suggest you check with BA if they are still flying.

BA contact numbers from the email BA sent us are:

•+34910507549•+442032500145

If you want an alternative to Madrid I believe the London - Valencia flights are still operating but you will have to make your own arrangements to get to Valencia, BA will not pay the cost. A one-way self drive car hire for a day from Alicante to Valencia costs about 50euro on AutoEurope.

Rgds,

Aitch.

If is of any use to anyone having to travel from Alicante to Valencia, we were in Valencia a couple of weeks ago and used the train for the journey, the fare was only 19€ each way. Took the stress out of driving , all safety precautions taken on the train and excellent train service.

Beautiful city, lots of interesting buildings and churches, about an hour and a half on the High speed train, BTW there is a free shuttle bus to take you from its station to the other station in the city centre, must see is the Oceanagrafa largest aquarium complex in Europe, recommend the hop on hop off bus, 18€ for a day ticket but only 19€ for a 48 hour ticket, we did the route one day and the second day used it to go to the aquarium as it is on the route, buy the aquarium ticket with your bus ticket and get a discount, total was 88€ for the two of us. Can also recommend the Vincci Lys Hotel in the city centre, 4 star, excellent and all Covid-19 precautions taken, only 3 minutes from the railway station and close to all the attractions, offering good deals at present.
