Criminal record check for residencia

Hope someone can help.

Am applying for residencia. Have a place in Spain and want to move out permanently.I am 71 years old and have my S1 form.

I have just got my ACRO fprm back and it shows a criminal record from 2013. This involves an offence of driving Without Due Care and Attention and failing to stop after an accident. Does anyone know if this will affect my application.

I had understood that these offences were "spent".

I have emailed them to see if they should be stepped down,

Any answers?

I wouldn't think those offences would have a detrimental affect on your NLV application. If you are concerned you could ask at the Spanish consulate.

I assume that you are applying for the non lucrative visa (?) as you cannot apply for residency in Spain without having a visa.

Whilst some driving offences are generally "filtered" after a period of 11 years and others not even recorded, more serious ones aren't and remain on the check.

Leaving the scene of an accident is one of the serious ones if it led to court action. Best to check with a solicitor in UK for advice if this offence was dealt with by a court.
