Just wondered if anybody can help.

I am 71 and will be applying for residencia soon. Have a plaace in Los Montesinos and in receipt of UK pensions.

If you have form S1 , do you still need to get a private health pension.

Thanks in advance.

Pat

No. The S1 form transfers your healthcare from you home country to Spain. The country paying your pension is then responsible for your healthcare costs. You register the S1 with your local INSS (social security office) and will receive a SIP (healthcard) which will show you a doctor and a nurse you are registered with at your local health centre. It also has your medication recorded (so show it a the pharmacy) and so on.

No need to have private medical insurance although some do keep it. The Spanish NHS if very good, though, so not necessary.

If you are a UK passport holder you will need to apply for the non lucrative visa to be able to move to Spain and live permanently.

You can't just come to Spain and apply for residency without some sort of visa.

With the NLV you will need to prove that you have the required income and healthcare.

You will need to apply for the NLV from the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh
